Has anyone used Stasher - luggage storage in Venice? What are the pros/cons? We are arriving in Venice and wanted to explore a bit on the day of arrival before heading to Padua where our hotel is. Is Stasher reputable? Or are there any other suggstions? TIA
Won't you be passing through the train station in Venice (or nearby) when you arrive? There is luggage storage (pretty sure, right?) there to make it easy when you are heading out to Padova.
Have not done so in Venice but was happy with them in Dublin. Once you provide some information they give you a number of choices so you can select by customer reviews, proximity to where you’ll be arriving, and type of venue. We selected a hotel venue. There was a secure luggage room (locked) and every item was tagged. I’d use Stasher again based on my one experience.
Thank you for the advice. I wasn't sure if there was a locked area for luggage in the train station. I figured the more options I had, the better. I also needed to find a place that might have late hours for pick up so we could maximize our time in Venice for that day. Good to hear that Stasher has worked as an option!
My other though was we could leave the airport and head to Padua and see if they would take our luggage at our hotel even though we would be there too early for check-in time. Then head back to Venice to do our exploring. Just looking to find the best way to get some time in Venice!
We haven't tried Stasher, but have used Bounce...same type of luggage storage. Have used them a couple of times in Europe and US and very happy with them. Most hotels we've stayed in will store your luggage if you're checking in that day. Give them a call before you arrive.
Thank you for the other recommendation! I may email the hotel in Padua to see if they would store our luggage for us, then head to Venice! Just trying to figure out getting from the airport to hotel in Padua, and then to Venice and back.
I've used both Stasher and Bounce in various countries with no problems, but it was only while staying in Airbnb/VRBO places with no luggage storage. No problems, but they work with different locations like hotels and cab companies so it's kind of dependent on the specific location. My travel buddy and I have kind of sworn off Airbnbs for now and having to research and organize stuff like this separately is one reason why. I don't think I've ever stayed at a regular hotel that wouldn't store your luggage for the day.
My order of preference would be: Venice train station storage > Stasher/Bounce depending on individual location reviews > extra trip to Padua just to drop off luggage (seems like a big waste of energy/time to go back and forth).
According to the Man in Seat 61 (a reliable source), the train station storage is at Santa Lucia (not Mestre). It's run by KiPoint. I used their service at Verona a few months ago and it worked fine.

Thank you for the link and order of suggestions on what to use!
I've used Bounce and had a positive experience with the app and the storage.
The hotel for your RS tour will definitely store your luggage for you. We’ve done that numerous times both arriving and departing. I would not waste time going out to Padua but instead would store luggage at the train station or a service right outside the station.
Be aware that there might be a long line to drop off luggage at the St. Lucia station. I still think that’s better than going to Padua and back, but be prepared for the possibility of waiting in a line.
Going to Padua simply to drop off luggage is a waste of time.
If taking the bus from the airport, luggage storage is available from a kiosk right at the center of the bus station in Venice. No need to prebook.
Alternatively, and this works for any city in Italy and most of Europe, go to the station area on Google Maps and search "luggage storage" for a convenient map of services close to the station. Many allow for online booking (but have alternatives, as lockers only become available if the previous renter vacates on time).
You can also book luggage storage online in most cities -- many services are available including Nannybag, Radical Storage, etc. These commonly use hotels or shops, which have the advantage that they don't run out of space but lockers are cheaper when you want to stow a couple of small bags rather than a big suitcase.
Compare prices and double-check opening hours -- it is rare for even lockers to be accessible 24/7.
Thank you for the suggestions. I think I will email our Padua hotel to let them know that we may hit the ground going to explore Venice when we arrive to Italy to make sure we can check in later that evening. I was concerned on what time we would have to leave Venice to get to our hotel (both for transportation and hotel check-in)
