Hi everyone,
Do any of you have experience with this holiday? I made my reservation for Borghese Gallery at 2pm on the 29th, thinking that might be a lull period if there are indeed holiday happenings. I've read of possible parade? Fireworks? Or nothing much...
I flew into Rome on that day last year. Second time in Rome, seemed normal (crowds, lots of tourists) BUT the bus station was closed for the holiday. I was originally planning on buying a bus ticket that day to go to my school in Siena where I was staying. Thankfully I decided to book a hotel at the last minute and just lay low in Rome for the night. Otherwise I would have been in a little bit of trouble. Also, the Pope said mass that day so the Vatican was a mob scene. Otherwise it was business as usual in Rome.
No celebrations other than Mass? No fireworks or parade?
Thank you very much for your replies. It sounds like a good day to go to the Borghese Gallery then! Ciao!
