St. Peters Basilica

I noticed St. Peters Basilica has a 2:00pm guided tour. Has anyone done this? I am debating waiting around to take this guided tour and trying to figure out when the best time to visit the Vatican Museum would be?
Does the Basilica offer Audio tours and what was your feedback on them?

I went w/a group 4 yrs ago & toured St Peter's Bascilica. The hallways were packed one group behind the other.

I do not see how individual audio tours could be done in that setting.

It is worth the wait to see & hear about the history of the works of art!

I have not tried the audio guides that the church offers, but they do rent them for €5 plus ID, near the cloak/checkroom. You can also download Rick's free audio tour to your own mobile device.

I used Rick's audio guide for St. Peter's and found it worthwhile. You could listen to it ahead of time and decide whether or not it gives you the level of detail you are looking for (it is free to download).
