St. Peter's question

Can you tell me how early it starts to get crowded at St. Peter's Basilica? We were there years ago around 7 or 7:30, and it was wonderful to be there with no crowds. This time we are going with a group and the earliest we can manage to get there is 8:30. Will St. Peter's still be less crowded at 8:30 than it would be later in the day (like around 1)? If not - if the big crowds are there as early as 8:30 - then we might as well go to the Vatican Museum at 9 and then go to St. Peter's after.
But I will plan on St. Peter's first if it will be less crowded in the morning. Thanks!

The basilica is so large that you really don't notice the crowds once inside. The line to get in starts building at around 8am but it moves quickly. Most of the time you'll wait 20 minutes or less to get inside. The basilica is crowded all day long as are the museums.
