St. Peter's Basilica & Dome Climb after Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel

Hi everyone! I've searched through previous posts and can't exactly find the answer I am looking for... My family and I have tickets to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel at 8am. We would also like to visit St. Peter's Basilica and do the Dome climb that day. I am afraid by the time we finish the Museums/Chapel tour, we will all be pretty hungry and tired and in need of a break, but if we wait until the afternoon, will St. Peter's and the Dome be too crowded? Is there something in that area that we can eat between the two sites? Any suggestions? Thank you!

There is a lovely, but small cafe on top of St. Peter’s. You can take the elevator up, rest, eat, use the facilities, even shop at their store, then finish the climb by steps.

From all the posts and the research that I have done ( I have not been to Rome yet, will be going in May), St Peters will be very crowded anyways by the time you finish the V. Museums. So might as well take a lunch break and then join the crowd refreshed.
This is what I am planning to do. May be others can suggest a better way.
