St. Peter's back to Termini

We're taking a walking tour that ends at the Vatican. We would like to get back to the Termini station and take the train back to Orvieto. It's my understand that we should take the metro line A back from Vatican to Termini. I read that we should go to the Cipro metro stop or Ottaviano metro stop. I'm not clear.
The start of the day
was to take the train from Orvieto to Rome termini....metro line B to Colosseum. Walk from Colosseum to Pantheon (20min) , Pantheon to Trevi (20min), Trevi to Spanish Steps (8min), Spanish Steps to Poplo (9min), Poplo to Castel Sant Angelo (20min) and last from Castel Sant Angelo a 20min walk to the Vatican.

From Vatican back to Termini station is in question....what is the closes metro stop? Does this plan even seem possible, it was suggested by something I read. I will be with first time visitors to Rome, I really think they could pass on Piazza del Popolo if that would make things easier. I've been to Rome before but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Will you end at St Peter’s or at Vatican Museums?
Very big difference

Possible vs. Worthwhile and enjoyable - with the timings you're suggesting it will be more like a forced march. The walking route from the Colosseum to the Pantheon takes you past the Imperial Forums- you can easily spend 30 minutes just stopping to view them from the sidewalk. Stopping to see the Vittorio Emanuele monument will take more time. So 60 - 90 minutes more realistic - just to get to the Pantheon. I would head directly to St. Peter's from there.

Ottaviano is the closest Metro stop, but as others have pointed out, it's a long walk from St. Peter's. If it were me, I would take a cab back to Termini - you will most likely be exhausted after all that walking.

Do you have the RS or other guidebook covering Italy & Rome? A very worthwhile investment.

Thanks everyone, not going to try it. This was a suggestion for one day in Rome that I had seen, it did sound crazy. Coming in from Orvieto the main places my friends wanted to see were the Colosseum and Vatican. Just thought I could do a little better being we were in Rome
