St. Peter's and sistine chapel

Question: If you book ticket for Vatican Museum and sistine chapel (either the "general admission" or a tour) from the official Vatican museum site, not a private tour company, does this also allow you to enter St Peter's Basilica without waiting on line, or do you have to wait on line whether or not you have purchased tickets for the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel?

Just looking to plan out our timing to make the best choices

Thank you so much!

You skip the ticket purchase line but still have to go thru the security line

The only way to skip the line into St. Peters from the Vatican Museums is to take a 3rd party tour that specifically offers it. The shortcut between the Sistine Chapel and the Basilica is only available to those specific operators.

The Vatican Museums and Basilica operate completely separately, so there's no public access between the two.

I was in the Vatican Museum/Sistine Chapel in 2018. At that time, you could not enter St. Peter’s from the Sistine Chapel. I had gone several times before and at that time, you could walk through to enter. We had to walk around the block to wait on line to go through security.
