St. Mark's Square Orchestras in March - alternative?

Hi All,

I've been reading and it looks like the orchestras don't play in March? This was a complete oversight on my part and we had really been looking forward to a night of splurging at Caffe Florian listening to the music. If there's no orchestras, is there other music there we could listen to? This was going to be one of our special memories from the trip so I am quite disappointed that I missed this.

Is there an alternative experience with the same magic?

Thank you

PQ

I reached out to Caffe Florian and they indicated they will have the orchestras playing from 1pm-7pm in March! I must have misunderstood their website!

Happy mistake!

Thanks for asking (and answering) this! I'm also there next month and had kind of written of Florian for its eye-watering prices. Maybe the addition of an orchestra makes it a whole experience more worthy of the cost.

Scudder,

We think it will be worth the splurge! I have yet to read any comments saying it was less than magical, costs aside.

I am just so happy it will still be happening!

Enjoy!

Having a sit down drink or two at any of the places with an orchestra on St. Mark's Square will be well worth the spluge!! Having a dance or two while there will be somthing you'll always remember.

One of my favourite memories from 4 visits to Venice was finally sitting down for lunch at Florian’s and enjoying the world passing by on the piazza for a couple of hours. Loved that there was no pressure to move, enjoyed the most expensive panini I’ve ever had, a spritz and a coffee, and some nice relaxing music. So civilized! Bonus was, when it was time to move, there was no queue for the Basilica so finally made it inside! Yes, it was worth every cent!

The only thing different at the moment (and maybe in March as well) you can sit inside/outside Florian but no view to the square. They are renovating the buildings on this side of the square

EDIT: They are renovating the square as well. Just standing there :-)

For anyone wondering, I reached out to Caffe Florian this morning and they advised that the work directly in front of them will be completed by the end of February so our wonderful view should be unobstructed by March!
