St. Mark's Basilica Venice - tour to skip the line?

Hello,
Traveling to Venice end of July with my son. The only available time slots for tickets are in the afternoon. I'm thinking of booking a tour with Liv Tours (have used and liked in the past) or another company so that we can skip waiting in lines even though we have a timed ticket. Neither my son or I like the heat and I assume - like other major European sites we have visited - that even with timed tickets you are waiting in long lines outside to get in.

For others who have traveled here in the summer, would a tour be worth skipping lines? I'm assuming there are long snaked lines outside even with timed tickets?

Also - there are so many ticket options. Is there a favorite for this site? Thank you!

If you have a timed ticket, the only line you wait in is the security line. NO ONE skips the security line, including those on a 3rd party tour. I recommend wearing a broad trimmed hat and perhaps carrying a hand held fan while you wait.

I think when the venue has its own website with timed tickets, "Skip the line" tickets from some 3rd party are just a marketing tactic.

Some venues are better than others in terms of their lines and process. The Jeronimos Monastery in Portugal is an example of a terribly managed admission process. Everyone regardless of timed ticket just joins the line at the back. In contrast, St. Mark's was well handled. We had first morning tickets and got in line just before opening.

Sometimes people are confused by a few different lines. Sometimes, there's a line for those without advance tickets, a security line, and a line for those that have advanced tickets that is usually quite short. If there is a security line, all visitors will go thru it.

Book your timed entry on the official site
https://www.basilicasanmarco.it/en/

Take note of their very strict dress code-shoulders and knees must be covered both men and women
No large bags allowed

No such thing as “skip the line”
Nobody skips security line
The long lines will be those that do not have a prebooked entry time
