I've read online that the lines get long at St. Mark's Basilica in Venice and that you can make online reservations ahead of time. The website for reservations says that they can be made up to 10 min in advance of your reservation time. Has anyone had luck making an online reservation from their phone the day of their visit while in Venice? I can book them online before we leave, but I'm not sure exactly what time we will arrive. Thanks for any insight you can provide.

I recall the line moving pretty quickly. It's been two years, though. Be sure to check a large bag if you have one before you get in line.

time of year you are going may matter. we were there about 2 weeks ago. waited in a 15 min line to go in. do make sure you follow the dress code and they will require you to check even small back packs--if you do. they will let you go right in -just bring your bag check ticket to the front of the line. also just a side note. I saw several women with purses lager than my husband small back pack and they did noit have to check them.
