St. Mark's Basilica On Our Own

Apologies in advance for asking a question that I'm sure has been asked many times. I just haven't found a simple answer for our specific situation. We will be in Venice during prime time --- end of June. I know it will be hot and crowded but that's the only time we could make it work. We've been there many times but not in the recent past. Since this will probably be our last trip there, we really want to see St. Mark's one more time. We are not interested in any kind of tour or a combo ticket. We just want to buy tickets in advance to avoid standing in the hot sun any longer than possible and be able to enjoy the interior at our own speed.

What kind of tickets should we reserve and how long in advance can we reserve them? Also, where is the best site to reserve them?

Reserve a timed-entry ticket in advance on the official website: www.basilicasanmarco.skipperformance.com
It looks like you can reserve remaining €6 timed tickets for the current month and the next month. Currently, time slots are only available for June 18 &19; June 24-27 and June 30.
They only allocate a limited number of timed tickets and if they’re sold out— you just gotta wait in line to get inside.

You can also just show up early and start waiting in line, I was there a couple days ago and got there at about 9:15am which was enough that it only took us a couple minutes to get inside. In June you might want to get there earlier in the morning but you won't be waiting in the heat.

We were there with timed tickets around May 3. Still ended up standing in line! We attempted to order our tickets about six weeks prior but none were available on their website. We ended up ordering them through a private company "Get Your guide?" and it worked out fine. You meet them by a nearby statue. Don't waste your time trying to download their app on site. Rick Steves has an audio app guide.

Hi, We are visiting 1st time to Venice. Since timed tickets for my date is not available, what are our chances of entering St. Mark's Basilica without a reservation.

As the above posts say, you’ll be able to see it after waiting in the €3 admission line.

We were in St Marks on Tuesday. We did have timed tickets for the last time slot of the day. There was no line up for the fast track line and the regular line wasn’t too bad. Inside there was room to move and breathe. We saw both lines at 9:30 on Saturday and both were long. Highly recommend going at the end of the day, not the beginning. Cruise ship tours are around in the morning as well as everyone who thinks it will be faster to line up a bit early.
