Asked husband to call Sprint to inquire about cost to add international data plan. He reported Sprint rep said we already have "international data roaming." Per representative, we just have to turn our phones off in Italy and when we turn them back on they will connect there. We supposedly will have free data and texts, and calls anywhere (including to US) will be 20 cents per minute. I would to believe this, but I didn't even think my Sprint phone (Galaxy 6) would work in Italy, so I'm confused. What has experience been for other Sprint customers?
It looks like a Galaxy 6 is a GSM phone, so that would mean it would work. Sprint Global Roaming is explained here https://www.sprint.com/landings/international-value-roaming/. I have T-Mobile, and they have a similar program. I found it worked fine, but restarting the phone is sometimes necessary. Hope that helps.
Thank you for the link. Looks like this will be easier than I anticipated! Always a good thing. 😆 Thank you for the input.
We are in Italy now, and we have Sprint service. Phones did not work in Varenna, our first stop. But since then, the service seems fine. My credit card was hacked in the US apparently before we left home, and after chatting online with Sprint for over an hour while in Varenna, i gave up and set up a Skype account. Made the necessary calls to the credit card company quite easily. They are offering a free month trial, so i will just cancel when we get home.
Have a great trip!
