This is really specific, but I wanted to know if anyone has ever come across splatterware dishes/ceramics in Rome. I've tried going in various ceramic stores but can't seem to find this style of ceramics. I know it's more of a traditional style made in Puglia, so I'm aware I may not find any here. Just thought I'd check with the forum first to see if I may be missing a shop by chance. Thank you!
Given the cost of shipping, if you decide to rely on a domestic supplier instead, the company March San Francisco stocks splatterware made in Grottaglie, Puglia.
Maybe ask Elizabeth Minchilli via her blog? She’s a pottery hound.
That's a great idea - thank you for the suggestion!
Thought I'd give an update with a shop I found that sells some splatterware - Ceramiche Nicola Fasano which is located on Via dei Banchi Vecchi. The ceramics are made in Puglia and sold here - beautiful collection!
That's a nice street to walk along, too.
You probably know this, but many the shops in Grottaglie have online shops, so if you do not find what you like in Rome, that might be an option, though not nearly as much fun as buying in the store. Fasano is a big name here in pottery.
acraven - I agree! There's quite a few streets all close to one another in that area that I love to walk down.
ekscrunchy - One day I will make it down to Puglia! Until then, I may just have to browse the online shops.
