We want drive to Perugia and park near Piazza de Partigiani and take the escalator up to the Town Center? Is this close to Tourist Information? Are there sights we should be sure to see in Perugia? Where can we get Rick Steves' information for Perugia? Where can we get a map?

The TI office is in a building across the piazza from the Duomo. They will give you lots of information about what yo see.
The chocolate-making tradition is still strong in Perugia, you ma be surprised at the number and variety of shops nearby.
Apart from the Duomo area, be prepared for some hilly streets.

You can even park very close to the main piazza. I followed the signs, passed by the piazza, continued right going slightly down and there was an interior parking on via giovanni andrea angelina bontempi.
A 3 minute walk from the piazza.
Make sure also to see the very nice galeria nationale dell umbria, a very nice museum with a few major pieces.

He doesn't cover Perugia. Rick's books are very selective; he has great detail about places he covers in a country, and omits everything else. This is a deliberate choice, but it does mean that you have to supplement Rick's books with other ones.
