Spello to Urbino by public transport

How can we two seniors get from Spello to Urbino by train or by a long distance type of bus that could handle our two suitcases? This would be in May, 2023. Thanks in advance for any help. I'm finding "Rome2Rio" to be a bit confusing.

When you get your results on Rome2Rio, follow the links to the providers listed and verify the schedules on their websites. Looks like bus might be the better option--your luggage will typically go underneath the bus. If you go by train, you put your luggage at the end of the train car.

Hello esther,

Keeping in mind I've never done this trip this is what I'm seeing. Urbino doesn't have a train station so your trip is going to require a bus for at least one leg of this journey. According to the this "get to Urbino" site the closest and easiest train stations are Pesaro or Fano on the coast going from North to South.

This guide lists bus companies with links to their sites. You can also use R2R to search for Fano or Pesaro specifically to see potential routes and timetables.

Searching for Spello to Fano on Trenitalia shows a ride of about 3-4 hours with two train changes and Pesaro is on the same line and roughly the same. If changing trains with your bags are a concern you might consider the options with fewer changes.

R2R lists the all bus option as a short trip Spello to S.M. Angeli (Assisi) with a walk to the next bus that then goes to Urbino. It looks like the bus is once a day (at least at the moment) so you don't have a lot of options in terms of when you go.
This looks like the schedule here: https://www.autolineecurcio.it/autobus-umbria-marche/collegamenti-per-umbria-marche/

Honestly neither of these solutions seem great, but keep in mind that towards May services may be picking up in frequency versus the dead of winter. Hopefully someone with local knowledge will step in with a solution that isn't showing up in these searches. I only ever trust R2R as a basic starting point of travel and always recheck and confirm anything they say.

I hope that helps some, enjoy your trip,
