I have received a speeding ticket from Italy. I have translated some parts, and think I owe 155 euros. Does anyone have any advice on if I can ignore it, or need to pay it? If I need to pay it how do I do that.
I hope to return to Italy, but it wouldn't be for at least 5 years. Would they arrest me as I step off the plane if I don't pay it? Ha Ha,?
Thanks,
Paul
Use the search feature. You are not the first -- or the last. There is probably a 100 plus responses on what to do. Nobody knows or has a specific answer as to what may or may not happen if you chose not to pay. My one concern would be that they would turn it over to a US based collection agency. But don't know if they legally could do it.
We've had a hundred posts on this in the last few years from people who have received traffic tickets in Italy. There's no consensus here among Helpliners on whether you should pay: most here recommend you pay, some say the opposite.
