I'm using the Waze app this time around (instead of Google Maps).
Waze alerts you of all Autovelox machines. Tested it in some roads I know well. It hasn't missed one yet, at least none of the fixed machines.
Good to know. Thanks for posting this Robert
I was debating between Google maps and Waze. Sounds like Waze might be the way to go :)
Yup, I agree
I use and have used Waze for years in the states and it worked as good or better in Italy as mentioned notifying me in advance of the speed cameras as well as updating the route for traffic, etc....
Lately my Waze app is having some issues on busy weekends downloading the directions, think the service is getting a little too popular.
However the Italian police has a new technology at their disposal. It's called Telelaser Trucam. It's a portable speed high definition camera that can record speeding and take a picture from 1200 mts (3/4 of a mile). The telescopic camera can photograph also the driver using a cell phone or not wearing seat belts. They are used by mobile stations (I.e. Patrol cars) therefore hard to detect even by Waze.
