It's been years but I stayed in a Rick Steve's lodging recommendation in 2003 in Florence that was directly off of Piazza del Duomo, on the south side of the baptistery, looking directly out at the baptistery, with the duomo to the right. It was run by an ex pat American woman who was married to an Italian. I loved it...it was perfect location with big open windows you could lean out and look out over the piazza and she had put double sound proof windows in so it was quiet at night! I no longer have that edition of Rick Steve's book, don't remember the name of the albergo or pensione and of course it has been years and who knows if it is around...
Any help anyone?!
thanks

On my RS tour several years ago we stayed at the Hotel California, just about
a block from the Duomo. Some windows looked out to the area you mention,
and there was a terrace on the roof where we would gather and open a couple
bottles of wine. I remember that the breakfast room was also near the roof terrace. Great hotel, we all loved it and could walk anywhere.
The hotel California suggested above is such a lovely place.
Mirrors on the ceilings, pink champagne on ice.
Plenty of room here any time of the year.
I'm not sure about the wine though. As far as I know they haven't had any spirits since nineteen sixty-nine..
Thanks for the chuckle Roberto!
Is this what you are looking for?
Yes, yes Joe- I am 99% sure it was Soggiorno Battistero! All the pics and info look VERY familiar as well as the mame - thanks for all the help everyone !
Ciao!
I just stayed at Soggiorno Battistero and although I've never consulted a travel book for recommendations ( I am a loyal Booking.com booker), my stay resembled the description you've posted. Not only was my view room sweet, it was reasonably priced and had an elevator for my post-op knee. Good luck!
