The Atlante Star has a beautiful restaurant at the top of their hotel. It looks out at the Vatican. We went on our 30th anniversary. It's breath taking at night.

My husband and I enjoyed a quiet, romantic meal at Il Gabriello near the Spanish Steps. You descend a flight of stairs from street level to the restaurant and it feels like a wine cellar (maybe it is?). The food was awesome and the ambiance felt intimate and cozy. Might be worth checking out the room/menu when you get to Rome and deciding then... http://www.ilgabriello.it/ (I think only the Italian version of the website works)
