staying in florence mid january and need special restaurant for birthday dinner for husbands bd. our mid-20's kids are coming to surprise him snd their first time in italy ---we were in florence for honeymoon but havent been back since
For such a family gathering, you might want to check out Giglio Rosso located at 35 via Panzani. Their web site is https://www.ristorantegigliorosso.com/en/about/.
A step up for the occasion (and something a bit more romantic without the kids) might be Olio & Convivium Gastronomia Restaurant. It's on the Pitti Palace side of the river on Via di Santo Spirito. The web site is (or was) https://oliorestaurant.it/. A bit pricey at lunch and more so at dinner, but excellent food, good ambiance, and fine wine.
You should be able to check the menus for pricing and such on line.
As usual I suggest Belcore, via dell'Albero.
Well since Florence is Known for it's steak i highly reccomend All'Antico ristoro di Cambi, you can make reservations on their website and need them. It's a very special restaurant for us and a must each time we visit Florence.
Nugalo (Stanley Tucci's last restaurant in his Florence episode is modern and delicious! Great service, too. Super chic and expensive "Chic Nonna" is a treat, very much the "in crowd," and everything that goes with it. I've sent friends to Nugalo, who also loved it. http://ilnugolo.com/
I'd recommend Regina Bistecca. https://www.reginabistecca.com/en/
