Spa in Abano Terme (near Padova)

We have just signed up for the RS Village Tour in May. I have read that Abano Terme is a great spa resort and thought that my wife and I could spend a couple of days there prior to the tour. Has anybody been there? Is there a bus that goes there?

I thought it dull. The town is all about spas which may have nice pools, but there is little else to do there. We drove, so don't know about buses.
