Southern Italy advice

I am doing a solo trip to Southern Italy and have been doing research for days.....which I do love trip research. I have been looking at some post and what would be so helpful if ya'all had any advice of unique places or 'don't miss this town' thoughts. I have been to Italy many times and this will be my first in this area. I will love any advice, will be traveling alone and I have found meeting people along the way has made all the difference. So any hotels, agriturismo or out of the way experiences, I am down. Also love to cook and hope to have a class experience too. Thanks experienced travelers for your help.

Southern Italy was wonderful. The two big standouts for me:

  • Matera. I went in 2014, and I have heard that it's more touristy these days. I just loved getting lost in the twisting streets of the Sassi, eating gelato at I Vici Degli Angeli, and soaking up the vibe during the evening passeggiata. I would love to return there.

  • Otranto. The cathedral, although not elaborate, was fascinating. The Tree of Life mosaic on the floor and the relics of the Martyrs of Otranto changed my perspective on history.

Other places I enjoyed:

  • Lecce. Another city with a nice vibe and great food.

  • Alberobello. Very touristy but worth seeing.
