This will be my first trip to Italy, my husband wants to see the Amalfi Coast. I was wondering from someone who has taken the Southern Italy trip can I use a AWD carry on? Will the 4 wheels work on this trip.
What is the Southern Italy trip and what is a AWD carry on?
I think there's a RS Southern Italy tour. There is a place on this site with tour participant feedback, albums, etc. that might be useful.
No clue about the luggage, but 4-wheelers are okay if the wheels are sturdy.
When we took the RS Southern Italy tour a few years ago Hubby and I had 2 wheel suitcases. They are noisy on cobblestones but that didn't bother us. The only place that was awkward that I can remember was getting from the bus to the hotel in Matera. We had quite a ways to walk, but it was totally worth it once we got to the hotel. It was downhill to the hotel and not always a slope, quite a few steps. Uphill with steps when we left. The steps were where the wheels didn't help, but we expected that. I don't think a 4 wheel case would be any better or worse than the 2 wheelers that most people have.
Have a Great Trip!
My mom used a 4-wheeled spinner bag on that tour last month. I think she rolled it on two wheels a bunch, since she's nor very used to the 4 wheels. There were also a couple of destinations (Vieste and Matera) where luggage was transferred between the bus and hotel by van, but of course you still take it up any stairs or elevator to your room.
