Southern France & Barcelona

End of next week we are off to southern France and Barcelona. Stopping at Carassone along the way. This is our fifth trip to Europe and this site has never let us down. We will go to Nice, Monaco, Entebes and villa sur france. Excuse my spelling. So what are the don't miss places we are leaving out and give us your top picks for Barcelona. Thanks all & Happy Traveling!

Greetings, Tom but you've put your question on the wrong "thread!" You need to post on "To the West!"

Top picks for Barcelona: 1. El Barri Gotic (the Gothic Quarter) is the historic center. There is a guided walk from the TI Placa Sant Jaume, I'd recommend. It's one of the best value guided walks anywhere (I think about $15 each). Then spend the day visiting the area. 2. Modernist architecture. There are essentially three stops on a modernist architecture tour. From Placa Catalunya, head up Passeig de Gracia to see the block of discord and other Modernist style buildings. Parc Guell is another great example of the style and a nice place to visit. Sagrada Familia would be my third stop. It's part modernist and part contemporary interpretations of the style - but a great sight in itself. 3. Beaches, Montjuic, Montserrat, Ramblas. Any of these might be a good choice depending on what your favorites are. My favorite tapas place in Barcelona was El Xampanyet. It was the most reasonably priced place we visited and was, by far, the most local. All the other recommended places we stopped at turned out to be chains - not very good food or prices.
