Having traveled through Südtirol several times on the autostrada or by train, this time I am planning to cross over from Lienz, Austria and drive the Great Dolomite Road on my way to Switzerland. I know that some have hit the RS-recommended lodgings, but I am interested in those folks who have gone out of the guidebook and found great deals elsewhere in the Grödental, Sella area, Brixen or Bruneck. There are so many accommodation choices, we'd like to stay outside of Bozen. Three adults; traveling by car in late July.
