Thinking of a 12-night (on the ground) trip in Oct. '23. Arrive Bari, Depart Brindisi. Public transportation, travelling solo. Have never been to this part of Italy and have some questions...
First 3 nights Matera--is this a good place to get the ol' body clock lined up with local time?
I would just like to hike around a bit, eat (not dine) well, and enjoy the city.
3 nights Locorotondo--maybe day trip to Martina Franca?
6 nights Lecce--my love of Baroque churches knows now bounds :-), so want to have plenty of time here. Would also want to see coastal areas (Otranto, Santa Cesarea Terme, maybe Gallipoli, any other recommendations?) Would it make sense to rent a car for a day or 2 to see these coastal spots?
And, if anyone has answers to questions I haven't thought of, that would be appreciated as well. Thank you!
