any suggestions with respect to interesting places to stay for two weeks in May

John the coast is long and filled with great places to visit. I'd suggest you get one of the guide books that covers the region such as the Rough guide and see what appeals to you. We enjoyed visiting the Gargano Peninsula area although we didn't stay there; we used a small town north of Bari as our base. We just picked it out of the book by reading the descriptions, and really I think you can't go wrong by doing that.
