Sorrento hotel

Hi all,
Long shot question- We visited Sorrento in 2015 and stayed at a Rick Steve’s recommended hotel at the top of the hill. The view and balcony for breakfast overlooked the bay of Naples and it was incredible! We are returning and I cannot remember the name- Any thoughts?
Thanks all!!

We just returned from staying at Hotel La Tonnarella on via Capo. This fits your description. It was listed in older guide books but not the latest one.
The view is magnificent , with private beach. Sadly for us, we had terrible weather and could only see Vesuvius on half of our stay.
Wishing you better weather . Safe travels!

For fabulous view and breakfast, this should work.

We enjoyed it immensely. Check out their webcam view during local daytime.

Do not have an RS book handy, so not sure if it is ( or was) listed.

We stayed at the Hotel Bristol on the via Capo. Our balcony was more like a terrace with breathtaking views over the bay with Mr. Vesuvius in the background. I still can't get over how gorgeous. We ate dinner there the first night - so delicious, as were the breakfasts. The rooftop pool had the same stunning views and was a great place to relax after sightseeing all day. Easy walk into town. It is uphill going back, so depending on how tired we were, we took a taxi back. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially when our driver back to the train in Naples didn't show. He arranged a last minute driver at 7:00 am and we were able to make our connections. I wish we could go back and stay there again!

Check out il Nido. It is above the city. Has a frequent shuttle bus to/from. Amazing restaurant, unbelievable views, extremely friendly staff (and owners), and very reasonably priced. Can you tell that I really like this place? After over 10 years (in the same room), I'm not even thinking about looking someplace else.

Il Nido it was! I'll never forget that view and the fresh orange juice for breakfast! Many thank all!

For Pat from San Diego. Sorry, couldn't figure out how to reply to Pat - there was no "Add Reply" button. My brother and I will be staying at Hotel La Tonnarella in a week or two. We are retracing our father's steps as a Medical Officer on the frontlines of WWII. He stayed at Hotel Minerva for a few days of "Officers' Rest Camp" in December 1943. The hotel had been taken over by the U.S. Fifth Army in November 1943. We tried to get reservations at Hotel Minerva, but they were booked until 2024, so we're staying right next door. My brother and I will have only a few hours to explore in Sorrento. Any special places to visit? Any related to WWII? Or should we just wander around the city and get the flavor of it all?
