Sorrento/ Transfers

Hello!
How does everyone get from Naples train station to Sorrento? Any recommendations? Who do you guys usually use and is reliable?

I do it by taking the Circumvesuvianna (commuter train) to Sorrento and a taxi to the hotel. Walk down the stairs turn left and walk about a hundred yards to the Circum..... , buy a ticket, validate, and get on. Follow the signs. It is easy unless you have a hundred pounds of luggage

Note, Frank said "commuter" train. Trains in the late afternoon are very crowded (i.e., standing room only).

We have been on the train several times and always found a seat. It can be crowded but service is frequent with frequent stops and seats open up. It is not the greatest train rail in the world but it works. And while it has a reputation for pickpockets, we have never seen one or, obviously, had any problems.

Other methods besides the circumvesuviana ("commuter train"):

A few time a day in season, there is the Campania Express, which runs on the same route, but makes far fewer stops and costs a bit more.

There are ferries between Naples and Sorrento; to use these, you have to get from the train station to the port.

You can hire a taxi to take you door to door. This costs something like €80 or €100, but for several people and the convenience of door to door service, it can be worthwhile.

From the Naples airport to Sorrento, there is a direct bus which takes 90 minutes, run by Curreri Viaggi: https://www.curreriviaggi.it/en/naples-airport-shuttle

I'm in Sorrento every year for about a week. It's usually the first stop for my time in Italy (I'm a singer - this is the vacation part of my summer). The Circumvesuviana works - hot, steamy, crowded and watch out for pickpockets. What about the ferry? Let the trip across the Bay of Naples be the beginning of your vacation. The downside is that there are not a whole lot of departure choices, so I suggest doing your homework. Figure out your train schedule. Take a taxi to the port and even if you have to wait for a while, it's a delightful place to sit and say to yourselves (over and over): We deserve this!

We used a car service for our family of 4 and it was 90 Euros. The driver met us at the train with a sign. It was worth it to us.
