Hi - I'm having a hard time figuring out what to book from Sorrento and with whom. Party of 4 (2-60yr olds & 2-18 yr olds) We will be there in July for 3 full days. We want to tour Pompeii and take a boat tour ( site seeing, swimming) Capri (not necessarily tour the island) -on 2 different days. We will need transportation from our hotel to Pompeii. I'm exhausted looking at all the options!! Has anyone taken recent tours like this that you like? TIA!!!

We used Aldo Limos to get around, and would recommend them. You could book Mondo shared tours for a Pompeii guided tour, and use Also Limos for your transportation to Pompeii.
Mondo tours also does private and shared tours for Capri. Check out their website.

Mondo only seems to have a shared tour for Pompeii at 11:15 - am i reading that wrong? With the heat I'm thinking that's too late.

Transportation to Pompeii is the Circumvesuviana train, twice an hour, about 2 Euros and 1:10. Stops opposite the Porta Marina entrance to Pompeii Scavi. Scavi means excavation. Don't use the single word Pompeii when talking to a cab driver or train conductor.
The Search box top center works quite well. There are 6-12-24 month filters.
