Sorrento to Positano by Bus

Is any site that we can buy the buss tickets in advance for 5 people? when you by round trip does the tickets have specific times for going and returned? Trying to do in on Jun 17 RT , can the buses be so full that will be no seats available?
Thank You

Hello, I can only answer the last question. I have done that bus trip twice.
The busses do fill to capacity but in true Italian style there are several people who stand in the
aisle. Good luck.

Hi there. I would strongly suggest taking the ferry, not a bus during tourist season on the very windy AC coast. And although Positano is beautiful to look at from the water, it's not really all that special once you get into the center, unless you had a specific reason to go there? I like the town of Amalfi, and ADORE Ravello, but that's a bus ride straight up from Amalfi town, gorgeous to walk around and look out over the Med. Good luck!

The tickets can only be purchased at the bus stop, at a tabac or at a ticket window- I believe Sorrento has a ticket window,
They are not for any specific bus. No assigned seats- just first come first served
If you are already in Sorrento you can purchase the tickets day before if you wish so then you'd only have to line up for the bus.

Better plan is to take the ferry as mentioned above!

You can buy tickets in advance but they don't have specific times. If you can get on the bus, you can take it. I was there in April and taking the bus in Positano was a pain, it was running late and noone knew when it would come.

Look into maybe taking the ferry back and forth. The views from the sea are fantastic. I disagree with a previous poster, the views in Positano from above the town as you go up are also very scenic. If you have time, go to Ravello and visit Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone. These vilas were highlights for me. You probably need at least 3 hours for Ravello and the villas. You would have to take the bus or ferry from Positano to Amalfi and then take a bus from Amalfi to Ravello.

The buses can be so full that the buses don't stop at the designated stops along the AC to pick up more people, and lines of people fill the sidewalks and streets.
I think the bus you're talking about starts in Sorrento, so expects a long line of people waiting in advance of the designated pick up time, even early in the mornings. Folks have reported car sickness from this bus on the winding, curvy roads.
We used Aldo Limos to tour the AC coast, last May, 2023, but if I had a do -over, I would have done the trip via the water.
Another lower cost option is Mondo shared van tours of the AC Coast.
The infrastructure in the area has been sadly neglected, and traffic is awful, with public transportation unable to meet the high demand. I was not prepared for the congestion.
Knowing this, you have the tools to plan a very nice trip, so enjoy and safe travels!

I was just in Sorrento in April and we took the ferry to Positano and no problem. The ferry was full but not packed. Now granted, the water was calm and that made it a pleasant trip, was able to see the coast line. Other days we took the ferry to Capri and Amalfi, the ferry was a good way to travel

This is a very good idea - If you have time, go to Ravello and visit Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone. If you only have time for one excursion, suggest the views & villas in Ravello are so amazing there's no need to go into Positano. Hope the logistics work!

The folks above have covered the bus issues very well so I'l just throw in another vote for using the ferries instead. For all the reasons given I think you'd find it a more pleasant way to make the journey to/from Positano during high season. Yes, the boats can cancel if the seas are too rough for safety but chances are fewer versus more that'll happen.
