Sorrento to Naples then on to Rome on a Sunday

My family is traveling from Sorrento to Rome on a Sunday. We'd like to stop off at Naples to do the Naples Walk (RS tour) and have lunch; then catching train on to Rome. Is this realistic in a day? Like to get to Rome by 3-4pm.

What train do we take from Naples to Rome?

Start very early from Sorrento, as the Archeological Museum opens at 9. It takes 60 to 90 minutes to tour the museum, longer if you are into details and examine everything. Then a good couple of hours for the walk plus lunch You can probably be on your way to Rome by 3pm. . The train to Rome is 1 hour 10 minutes. There are several trains per hour. Take a frecciarossa for a fast journey on a comfortable train. Look up times and purchase tickets in advance for a discount at www.trenitalia.com.

There are two competing companies running trains from Naples to Rome (and to Florence, Venice etc.): Trenitalia and www.Italotreno.it/en

Take a Freccia if you want, but Italotreno's fares are usually cheaper than Trenitalia's and their T&C are more flexible. The complimentary on-board wifi is easier to use.

There is a manned luggage deposit at Napoli Centrale, but security takes time.

Don't be paranoid, but Be aware of your surroundings while walking around Naples. Remember that pickpockets need crowds to do their "job" and go away without being noticed.
