I am trying to find information on how to get from Sorrento to Foggia within a reasonable time frame...say 4 hrs. It would have to be a train or bus, but I can't find any connections for getting there. I am leaving on June 30th. Any guidance appreciated.

The only way for that trip is the train. You have to take the circumvesuviana train from sorrento to napoli porta garibaldi, after the train from napoli porta garibaldi to caserta and finally a frecciarossa or intercity from caserta to foggia.
Tickets from sorrento to napoli are not avaiable online and you cannot find timetables on trenitalia website.
The journey takes about 4,5-5 hours but the connection time in naples is only 5-10 minutes, except in the afternoon.
Remember that in middle june, italian rail timetable will change so you have to wait that day to be sure to see real sheluded trains.
I will show to you these options that i found but take them like an example: sorrento (6:25am)-napoli p. Garibaldi(7:31am), napoli p.g. (7:36am)-caserta(8:19am), caserta (9:15am)-foggia (10:56am).
Sorrento(7:22)-naples p.g(8:26), naples pg(8:36)-caserta(9:19), caserta(10:11)-foggia (12:23)
Sorrento (16:17)-naples pg (17:13), naples pg (17:36)-caserta (18:19), caserta (19:14)-foggia(20:56) i think this is the best way. You can also try to see separate legs.
Consider that the leg caserta-foggia needs a reservation.
