Sorrento to Barcelona

Which is a better route to go to Barcelona from Sorrento? If we take the plane, where do we need to go for the nearest airport? Sorry for a lot of questions. Thanks.

sally, In the same situation, I'd probably use a Vueling flight from Naples to Barcelona. Air Berlin and SpanAir also appear to operate on that route, however the prices are higher. Rather than use the Circumvesuviana to return to Naples, you might consider using the Curreri Buses that go from Sorrento directly to the Naples airport (~€10.00, time 1.5H). Check Their Website for further details and prices. Cheers!

Others have explained the one-hour Sorrento-Naples route on the Circumvesuviana train. You could then go upstairs for a two-hour train to Roma Termini and a one-hour train from there to Civitavecchia. The port is a short walk from the station and you can get an overnight ferry to Barcelona, arriving next afternoon. A fun trip: ferries have comfy chairs or cabins, bars, restaurants, music etc. Check it out!

ken and Guy, thanks for both suggestions.
Ken, for the bus from sorrento naples, is there a place to put our luggages? We are planning to bring just the carry on luggages.

on our trip last summer we flew Vueling Barcelona to Rome; smooth flight, I would recommend that airline.

sally, Typically on Italian Buses, small carry-on items are taken into the passenger compartment, while larger items go into the cargo hold under the Bus. With luggage stored in the cargo hold, it's important to be vigilant at every stop, as it would be easy for luggage to "disappear" at that time. Depending on how large your luggage items are, you should be able to keep it with you in the cabin (but no guarantees).

Hi Ken, I have taken the trains but never the bus in our previous Europe trips. Thanks for the note regarding being cautious in taking the bus. Ken, just a thought, would it be possible for me to pay for my 21 inches carry-on luggage inside the bus as if it was a person sitting? I wonder if they will allow it. Or does it makes sense to use a prearrange transfer instead of taking the bus? Sorry for all my questions. I am excited about the trip to Amalfi but am getting worried about it too regarding the transportation. Thanks so much for your patience in answering my question.
