How do we get to Amalfi Coast from Sorrento? If you have to take a boat, where do you catch it from? Same for a bus, where do you catch it and how to get back?
The most reliable option is to take a bus from the front of the train station. It's cheap and the buses run frequently. You get back the same way. Tickets were sold at a shop below the train station when I was last there, a couple of years ago. Boats leave from the marina below the town. You can walk there or take a bus. Boats run less frequently than buses and don't run in rough weather. I only take a boat if I'm going to Capri.
We've taken a boat from Sorrento to Positano twice, and back, and like it much better than the bus. Boats also go to Amalfi (the town). But as Swan said, depending on where you want to go on the Amalfi Coast, a bus might be the most practical. There's also a Hop-On Hop-Off bus in Sorrento who's route is beautiful and scenic and includes a little of the AC. Highly recommend it.
Thanks to both of you. We look forward to our stay in Sorrento
