Sorrento to Almafi Coast Strategy

We are planning to travel to Positano and Almafi on Wednesday- July2- via a SITA bus from Sorrento. We would prefer to take the 8.30 a.m. bus and wondered how early that we should arrive to do so. If anyone has traveled this route in July that could chime in, it would be appreciated.

Our desired return option would be via boat. Is that option available from both Almafi and Positano? Would appreciate the names and websites ( if any) of any suggested carriers.

Thank you for your suggestions.

We are planning the same trip later in July and would love to know the above information as well! How did you come across the SITA bus schedule? I searched last week and did not find anything. Thank you in advance for any help.

We were just in Sorrento last week and took the MondoGuide. It tour through Rick
Steves on a day trip to Amalfi Coast. It was a 9 hour trip in a van with a very knowledgeable
driver. We had 7 people on the van. It stopped for over an hour in Positano; another stop
for lunch in Ravello; and also stopped at Amalfi. Also a number of shorter stops for pictures along the ay. And price was only 45 euro per person. If boat is not critical; this option is much better than the SITA bus.

Thanks. The MondoGuide tour would be perfect. I just signed up using the Rick Steves tab for the shared service. Now I just need 6 more travelers to sign up for July 2nd!!!

John, I would be at the SITA bus stop in front of the train station by 8:10 am. Be sure to sit on the right side of the bus for the best views. You can take a boat from Positano very easily (I haven't been to Amalfi yet, but I'd guess it's the same)... I don't remember the names of the boat companies, sorry. We just go to the dock area and find out when the next boat is.
