Sorrento Taxi Driver for going to Positano & Amalfi

We will be in Sorrento for a few days in October. Per Rick's suggestion, we'd like to get a taxi driver to take us to Positano where we can walk and visit then on to Amalfi to walk and have lunch. Should we plan 6-8 hours for this? How much should we expect to pay a driver and does he stay with us throughout? Do we book this ahead of time or when we get there? There will be 4 adults in our party.

go to sharedtours.com and click on Amalfi Coast - this is a company RS has partnered with for tours. We used them a couple years ago and LOVED it. They picked us up in a super nice VAN, spent all day touring - lots of free time, amazing views. We'd do it again for sure.

How can we comment without the total price they TOLD you it would be? What kind of unpriced quote (otherwise known as a pig in a poke) did you get? We paid our hotel’s land partner 245 Euros (5 years ago) for 8 hours in an A/C Mercedes sedan, Sorrento-Positano-Ravello-Amalfi-Green Grotto-Sorrento. Worked out great.

Looking at Rick’s taxi company (Monetti?) signboard at the Sorrento train station, we think we got a better deal. But we also liked having our hotel’s Concierge and their reputation as a backup for making sure we got a good product. (Ambasciatori Grand Hotel, cliffside Sorrento.)

Mondo Shared Tours will be much less expensive than what others quote above. Or, find a driver on Trip Advisor reviews.

Yep, I'll throw in a vote for the Mondo Amalfi Coast shared tour as well. All of the Mondo shared tours have gotten such great reviews from the RS posters who've taken them, and at just 50.00 euros pp (lunch extra) for this 9-hour, 3-town tour, the price is certainly a plus! Here's the website:
