This is my first time to Sorrento - does anyone have a good restaurant recommendation?
The Caruso restaurant in Sorrento was recommended to us by our guide in Tuscany. He is a former chef and said the food their was excellent. We did not end up going there because we had a short time in Sorrento, but did walk by it and take a look. They also have a website if you want to check it out before you go.

We were in Sorrento in September. Our favorite restaurant was in Marina Grande, the fishing village below Sorrento, a short walk. Tratoria d'Emilia. Small family run - Grandma Emilia runs the kitchen and her children and grandchildren run the restaurant. We ate outdoors on the waterfront. The seafood was outstanding. If you are going in the winter or even late fall you should check if the restaurants in Marina Grande are open. Also, there are many little places to eat in the old part of the city. Just wander around and check out the menus and see what appeals to you.
On Sunday 23 September, we ate at a lovely recommended by Rick Steves called L'Antica Trattoria Restorante. We ate in the garden room. There were fresh flowers on the tables and elegant tableware. A British couple we visited with during lunch had been dining there for many years on each visit to Sorrento. It is located not far from Piazza Tasso in the direction of the waterfront.

We really loved trattoria azurro da genarro, which is up the road from trattoria da emilia. I ate at both. Both are quite decent, but azurro takes credit cards and we could pick the fish we wanted...it is all on ice. You can't go wrong with either. We are jealous...Have Fun!!
