Sorrento Restaurant Recommendation

Looking for places to eat near the old town or historic district in Sorrento where locals eat. Thanks

There is amazing seafood on the Grand Marina - you literally are seated either right on the beach or on top of the water. Always crowded - and rightfully so!

Thanks. I research areas where we travel thoroughly on travel websites. My goal is to find places where locals eat that may not show on travel sites.

Hmmm, well then let me give my absolute favorite place to eat in Sorrento: Hotel il Nido. It's above the city, has a limited but excellent menu (increasing the best food in Sorrento), a killer view of the entire Bay of Naples, and a most welcoming staff. I've stayed there for at least the past 13 years of so and always have at least one or two meals there.

There are lots of places to try but you really would need to get away from the main streets, the shopping area and the bigger hotels. I'd enjoy hearing other people's suggestions since I usually try to experience one new place each visit.

If you want an excellent meal and can afford a splurge, I'd highly recommend L' Antica Trattoria in Sorrento. The website shows the location. As I recall, there's a good Gelato place nearby.

I love "Da Filippo" , my favorite restaurant in Sorrento. Full of locals. It's not exactly right in the centro if town but they pick you at your hotel (or other meeting point) and drop you at the end of your meal.
We just went last week and it was as delicious as always!

We had a delicious meal at Zi'ntonio on Via Luigi de Maio, near the center of town. The atmosphere was different and no patio but the food was excellent.

I second both Zi'intonio & TavernAllegra, and would add Il Leone Rosso, which has a great menu, solid food, open all day and is right next to the train/bus station.

I must always recommend Pizzeria Da Franco for a casual lunch. Soo good. It's a couple blocks from the train station. Il Bucco was a nice splurge for our anniversary. And of course, Delfino was so good we went there twice.... Finally, DiFilippo was a local recommendation. It is up the hill from the train station, next to a lemon grove. We really liked Sorrento and the food scene.

Delfinos! After reading about it in Rick's guidebook, my husband and I decided that it was a must do, even though we were staying in Salerno! We were not disappointed. When they heard we had spent the whole morning traveling to Sorrento just eat there, we were treated like royalty. The food was wonderful. We got our free limencello by showing our Ricks book, and conversed at length with the owner's son who made us feel so welcome. The whole experience was the best.

If you go down by the fishing docks you will find great restaurants serving some of the best seafood in Sorrento. Not super fancy but really tasty and full of locals.
