We have one 8 hour day in Naples. We have been before and done the Amalfi Coast, Capri, The Blue Grotto and Pompeii so no need to repeat. We loved Sorrento. We are trying to decide how to spend that day. There's a great 5.5 hour food tour/tour of Naples as an option to see the sights there or should we ferry to Sorrento for the day? Thoughts?

We spent 2 weeks in Sorrento 2 years ago and loved it, and thought it was a great base to relax after daytrips to other places including Naples. As a destination of its own I'm not sure if it has much to offer in terms of sites. My pick would be Naples because it has a lot of history to offer.

If you are on a cruise the safest thing to do is take a cruise offered excursion
If you’ve never spent time in Naples that would be my choice

We only spent a few hours in Naples and I never felt it was enough. So my preference was Naples and thank you both for confirming that.
