Hello, we will be arriving from Rome/Pompeii in early July, spending one night in Sorrento. We are two adult sisters traveling with our 4 children, ages 6-12. Can anyone advise a hotel (possibly with a pool?) in Sorrento that we could get to easily from the train station? We will be arriving in the evening around 8:30 and I am concerned about navigating the town at that hour. Thanks!
While we were in Sorrento recently and stayed at a nice inexpensive B&B, it may not be the best place for 4 kids, so I recommend using TripAdvisor to narrow down your choices. I find the reviews there to be quite accurate. The train station in Sorrento is very central, it is a 5 minute walk to the central part of the city. If you're worried given the time you're arriving, there should be lots of hotel choices that are a 5-10 minute walk from the train station. PS Sorrento is a very safe city to walk around in at night. The older part of town which is a 10-15 minute walk north-west of the train station is full of shops and excellent restaurants. 7-10 pm is peak time for dinner there.

The shops stay open until 9pm and you will find people out and about enjoying the cooler evening air until about midnight. Here is a map of Sorrento to give you an idea about locations etc. http://www.sorrentotourism.com/_downloads/1438-Italiano-pianta-sorrento--s.agnello.gif
I wouldn't be worried about navigating the town at 8:30 - it won't even be dark then - and the town is hardly unsafe.
We recently stayed at Villa Monica with my eight year old niece. No pool, but very family friendly with great views, and shuttle service from the villa into town. Pasquale was a delightful host the rooms lovely and the common areas very nice.
