Does anyone have a good hotel or B&B in Sorrento, Italy close to downtown Sorrento and to the train?
Gratzi Milli!
Kathy and John
We stayed at the Hotel Sorrento City- 2 blocks to train two blocks to piazza. perfect. Great staff , nice rooms , good breakfast. The rooms on the front may be a little loud for some, but we enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching the sreet scene.
Sorrento is a beautiful place and while we were there we used buses, trains and boats to day trip to Capri, Naples, Amalfi, and Pompei-you cannot beat the location.
Can`t wait to go back
Have a look at this place. Have not stayed there myself but the location, on Piazza Sant' Antonino, is central to everything. Cooking facilities/fridge in rooms.
Not quite as central but still convenient is the Ulisse Deluxe Hostel. Built as a hotel but refused a hotel licence hence the hostel tag.
Understand that it is in the book!
We stayed at Mignon Mueble and it was fine. Easy walk with luggage from train. Well located, central. Modest, clean, reasonable hotel, simple breakfast and nice people.
Hotel Palazzo Guardati (4 star) off the main square and fairly close to the train station.
IL Roseto which is about a 10 minute walk from the main square is one of the best B&Bs I stayed at in Italy. The rate is about 65 euro per night. The rooms are large, clean, and come with a private bath. Breakfast is included and consists of cheese, fruit, and pastries. The place is awesome. I can't believe it is not in Rick's book. You can check it out on tripadvisor.
I will be staying at Hotel Dania.
I wasn't able to find any reviews but the photos looked nice and it was a resonable price.
Fingers crossed!! :))
take a look at the RS book; he recommends several good ones. We stayed at Hotel del Corso last summer, great location right in downtown (steps to the plaza) and near the train station.
Hi Kathy & John,
My husband and I stayed at Ulisse Deluxe Hostel (http://www.ulissedeluxe.com/index_english.htm). It is really like a 4star hotel (Rick Steves also recommends this in his Italy book). The prices are very reasonable and the place is very clean. The rooms were huge (with marble floors) and had a TV/Fridge etc. They had a breakfast Buffet that you could pay extra for. And it's in a great location and very easy to walk to downtown sorrento.
Have a great trip!
Mille grazie to all who gave us some suggestions!
We stayed at the Magi House - which is on a pedestrian street right in the middle of the main tourist areas of Sorrento and a very close walk to views of the water, the ferry, etc. The rooms are wonderful, the hosts great, and we had an apartment with a kitchenette which was great to have. The reviews on Trip Advisor are also excellent. Their prices are very reasonable as well, though word of advice, I'd suggest not paying the extra $$ each night for breakfast (it's an option, not a requirement) and simply stocking your fridge with some items.
i have to say the ulisse deluxe as well. i was on a first class tour for a week and half last year with trafalgar and then on my own and the ulisse deluxe was the most beautiful and spacious of all..and the price, the price...unbelievable.
it is about a 10 min walk to the main sq but of course you are still in the thick of everthing, passing shops, restaurants, bakeries etc. oh how i loved this place and sorrento..
back again in sept and i cannot wait!
Ulisse Deluxe Hostel !! Loved this place. Huge rooms, Huge Bathrooms. Big compared to the hotels in US even !! Clean. Flat screen TV, A fridge which was not working but they were happy to replace it. The breakafst was really good ! and worth the extra we paid. 10 min walk to the main plaza and train ! definitely a 4 star! very reasonable prices.Helpful staff. Good wifi. If we go back will definitely stay there again.
Hi John,
I just got back from Sorrento and stayed in the Casa Astarita B&B in Sorrento - it's in Rick Steves guidebook. It was a great place - in the center of Sorrento and a 10 minute walk to the train/bus station. If you book a room, I suggest you ask for a room with a balcony looking onto the street. The street become pedestrian only at night and the rooms have double doors to block out the noise. The rooms in the back "overlooking the garden" - Romantica and Magica, are near a "garden bar/disco" that plays loud music very late. I know this because I spent a sleepless night in Romantica (and have heard about Magica). The other rooms - overlooking the street are great! Have fun.
Thanks so much for taking the time send your feedback!
