Hello! My husband and i will be in Italy this July and are spending three nights in Sorrento. We want to spend one day in Naples. We also want to see Pompeii and Positano. With our limited time, would it be possible to tour Pompeii in the morning, get back to Sorrento, then ferry/bus to Positano in the evening? We definitely don't want to try and do too much and end up not being able to enjoy our time there. Suggestions?

Three nights typically allows two days for touring, so it's going to be a very "full" Itinerary. You'll probably want to spend your arrival day touring Sorrento.
You could certainly tour Pompeii and then return to Sorrento on the second day, and then take either Bus, Taxi or private car service to Positano. If you're using the Bus, be sure to check on the return times. On your last day, take the Circumvesuviana to Naples for the day.
One other thing to consider would be to visit Naples on your way outbound from Sorrento. Store your luggage at the station (I believe there's a Deposito Bagagli there), tour Naples and then continue to the next place on your Itinerary.
There is a Deposito Bagagli at Napoli Centrale, it's near the police office.
I saw Pompeii en route to Sorrento. There is a place to store luggage there. Pompeii only takes about 2-4 hours, so you could include that on the same day you go to Naples if all you plan to do there is eat pizza and tour the archeological museum. You will probably need most of a day to tour the Amalfi coast, it's quite lovely.
