We have 5 days to spend in Italy in March. I was thinking of going to Rome for 3 days and Sorrento for 2 days. However, I have noticed that many hotels are not even open until April and have read that transportation such as buses have greatly reduced service until May. Has anyone been to the region in March? Is the weather okay at that time? Are things open or is everything closed then? Is transportation a big hassle at that time? Any answers to these questions would be greatly appreciated!
we spent 3 day's in sorrento the last week in march 2008. the weather was in the mid 60's . we stayed at il nido, very nice hotel with free shuttle service into sorrento. all of the public transportation seemed to be in full mode including day trips to almalfi coast and capri which we did both and enjoyed. hope this helps. good luck :):)
