Sorrento in 2 Weeks

A family member is going to Sorrento for a work trip and invited me to tag along. Most of the trip, I will be alone while she is in meetings. We will arrive on January 22. I went to Italy in November 2021 and did Rome, Florence, & Venice and did a day trip to Pompeii. I usually spend months planning my itinerary for Europe, and I only have 2 weeks to do so. What's worse, she invited me when I was loaning my Rick Steve's Italy book to her, so I don't even have that as a guide now! Any must see/do experiences for a solo female traveler? I would really love to do a cooking class as I loved the one I did in Florence, and I would really love to do a limoncello tour as well if anyone has recommendations for tours. I gather it will likely be a rainy trip, but I will be sipping wine and eating amazing food in Italy for the week, so I suppose the last minute trip will be worth it :)

If you have any interest in museums or history, I recommend taking a day and visiting the Archaeological Museum in Naples. That's where most of the artifacts from Pompeii ended up and it's spectacular! They also have an excellent collection of sculptures/statues that rivals anything in Rome & Florence.

While you're in the city center you could stop and get pizza. Gino E Toto Sorbillo is nearby (best pizza I've ever had), and would be well worth the trip from Sorrento by itself imo!

This type of last-minute trip is definitely worth it! As for cooking classes, I took a pizza class in Naples last May, and I learned some new things and it was fun.
Definitely hop on the bus in Sorrento and ride it all the way to Amalfi. After poking around Amalfi you can take the bus up to Ravello and walk back down. You can also get on another bus from Amalfi and go to Vietri or Salerno.
Lots of things to keep you busy!

Hello klathomp12,

Depending on your interests both Pompeii and Herculanum are within easy by train. I know you said you visited Pompeii but it is a huge sight and worth visiting (to me anyway) many times.

You could visit the island of Capri - just off Sorrento coast. There is the whole Amalfi coast to explore. The winter schedule of ferries is probably limited but is worth looking into. There is always the bus/car option to the Amalfi cities as well for the brave.

There are some amazing hiking options - look into The Path of the Gods on the Amalfi coast if that interests you.

There are worse problems to have. ;)
Enjoy your trip!
