I was hoping to get some reviews on both the Hotel Settimo Cielo and the Hotel Mediterraneo. Can anyone help who has been to these hotels?

I do not know personally but try going to TripAdvisor.com and look up those two. They have listings of reviews for many hotels. If they are not what you are looking for, just search Sorrento hotels on their site.

We stayed there for 3 nights in sept. 2007. Tremendous views of Bay of Naples looking towards Mt vesivius. Pleasant and helpful staff.

Just back from 5 nites at Hotel Settimo Cielo. We had previously stayed at the Hotel Minerva. Hotel Settimo Cielo is very clean with nice tile floors and modern bathrooms. Fine beds and a few refrigerators that you can request.(Great little market at the bottom of the hill. We had a room on the pool level with a small balcony(table and 2 chairs) and lovely view. The balcony tended to be in the shade most of the day. Some rooms may have larger balconies. I don't believe the pool is heated and half ends up shaded. There is a small bar next to the front desk but no real food service besides breakfast. Internet is available at 10cents per minute. The front desk is very helpful and professional. The breakfasts aren't great. Good oranges and a few tired apples, weak cappucinos (I finally switched to tee), breads to toast and eggs to boil. Fresh rolls and croissants and melba toast. The room has more beautiful views. You would definitely want to request a balcony and not the lowest level. It's a 10-15 minute walk into town but that's why you get the great views. We requested a quiet room as some are close under the sidewalk above. The Minerva pool has full son and more elegance but has limited balcony rooms that are more money especially with the killer euro. We accepted the 10% cash discount at Cielo or a 5% discount with Rick's book.

We stayed at Hotel Settimo Cielo a few years back. Great views, every morning was breathtaking. A little bit out of town but it doesn't hurt to work off the gelato. Breakfast was ok. Rooms were ok, clean, decent size bathroom. The balacony was unusually large. We went to a local market, got wine, meats, cheeses, olives, etc. and had a nice evening on the balcony with our friends and had plenty of room. Staff was helpful. I would stay here again.
