I am looking for a hotel in Sorrento Sat Oct 14-Tue Oct 17. Willing to spend around $450 US a night. Wanting to have free wifi, and a breakfast included as well as being 10-15 min walk from town/train. Since it won't be swimming season I am hoping to find the best luxury hotel experience that I am not overpaying for their pool/beach amenities since I won't be using them. A room with a great view would be a plus but not required. Thank you!

Beautiful rooms, fantastic views, best breakfast we’ve ever had
Easy walk to town and train
I am staying at Hotel Grand De La Ville now and Christine is correct. We have a large and beautiful balcony. Even in the pouring rain, it is sheltered so that my husband and I can enjoy the view (with a coat on of course). Everything is within walking distance. If you are here in good weather, they have a beautiful garden for lunch and a roof top pool.
Thank you both! I just now reserved a comfort room with partial Sea View and Terrace. The place looks great.

Well, either you want a luxury hotel or you don't. The included amenities are always baked into the price, especially breakfast today. I'll note that our hotel (next paragraph) internet marketing structure included hotel-only resort credits, which is not the same as reduced prices. But it avoids the appearance of discounting-yourself. We had a dinner at the hotel that we would not otherwise have had, because of those credits. These five hotels have common management, but they are not wildly different from each other.
It's possible that some choices may start seasonal closures in October, but not the five large cliffside hotels. I'd add Ambasciatori to the list. I'd also note that the pool deck and the (private) boardwalk Gulf swimming platform could still be nice to sit on, if they are still open for the season. (?) We were there in May. The large buffet breakfast was very enjoyable, although I wonder if it might be smaller in October?
There is only one tiny beach in Sorrento, and it is public. Someone posted here about a boutique hotel with a private beach, but I didn't recognize the name, and I can't find the discussion right now. The beaches in Positano are all pebbles.
