Sorrento Hotel choice: Maison Tofani OR Super splurge on Grand Hotel La Favorita?

Ok party of 4 US travelers--2 adults, 2 teens (essentially, one is 22)
staying for 3 nights in mid August.

Maison Tofani sounds great...

but would La Favorita be awesome? Views look amazing, pool, etc? Help if you have experience
Your thoughts please as to pros and cons of each?

Thanks

I would choose the Maison Tofani. They have excellent views too and a roof terrace where you get a sea view to Vesuvius. Dinner isn't free at GHA unless you can get a deal that includes it. Maison Tofani has Giovanni who is a sweet and helpful man who will help you with anything you need help with and makes you feel like one of the family. Rooms are nice and cozy and there is a good breakfast. It is near everything and you will enjoy the gorgeous frescoes on the ceilings. A 22 year old is an adult legally and not a teen so you will have 3 adults and 1 teen (aged 13-19 are teens).

I have not stayed at either but if you are looking for more feedback about them, look them up on Booking.com. Only people who have actually stayed at the hotel can review it on Booking.com, so I consider their reviews a bit more reliable than Trip Advisor.

You can compare the prices & terms on Booking.com with each hotel's website. Sometimes booking directly with the hotel can get you a better rate. Sometimes, though, booking directly with the hotel requires a deposit while Booking.com may not. Be sure to check all terms & conditions carefully before you book.

We stayed at Maison Tofani, and loved it. All the personnel were helpful, warm, and friendly. The breakfast was fabulous, including (in May) fresh cherries from the owner's garden. The interiors are very attractive.

I am so happy to hear the reviews. We are staying two nights in April at Maison Tofani. For those that stayed there, can you recommend any nearby restaurants?

Hello everyone..

thanks for your counsel; I am just a little leery of two things:

  1. NO POOL (which may be nice a couple times)
  2. The B&B nature of the place, which may feel awkward ? for our kids...

Any follow-up thoughts?

B&B does not necessarily mean staying in someone's home. Think more small private hotel offering room and breakfast which is what the Maison Tofani is. Only caveat is that at that time of year good air conditioning will be very important. Also book soon as it will be the height of the high season.

I would think that the younger members of your party would feel isolated out at the Aminta, staying at the MT means the life of the town is on your doorstep.

Great points everyone!

By the way, critical point about AIR CONDITIONING...

Can I assume Maison Tofani has sufficient AC for comfort?

Thanks

Had a quick look through some reviews for the MT and Jul/Aug stays and no comments on the efficiency, or otherwise, of the air conditioning. So maybe safe to assume that there was not a problem?

Yeah, the Maison Tofani is starting to sound like a pretty good deal.

I think I may be trying too hard to make the PERFECT selection. (There are raves and rants about virtually every lodging situation--even the great ones.) The only remaining thing I have to get over is whether or not I'll regret not having a more direct and commanding sea view. If I can get past that, I will just be content with MT
