I wanted to get some help/advice on three hotels I am looking at in Sorrento. I am currently booked in May to stay at Antiche Mura, but am having second thoughts due to the price. What I wanted was a nice, in-town hotel with a good breakfast. Since booking at Antiche Mura, I have discovered Hotel Plaza and Hotel Palazzo Guardati. They both seem to fit what I was looking for and are both about a 100 euro cheaper per night. I have looked at trip advisor for comments on each hotel and they all have great reviews. Therefore, I figured I would see if anyone here has stayed in any of the hotels I have listed and what they thought. If anyone has stayed at Antiche Mura, it seems nice, but is it worth the price? Thanks so much for your help, I greatly appreciate it.
Sorry don't know about these hotels but in 2006 we stayed at Settimo Cielo out on Via Capo for 4 nights. Rooms were fine but the balcony and view of the Bay of Naples amazing! Would stay here again.
Hi Evan,
I haven't heard of any of the places you listed. However, my husband and I stayed at Ulisse Deluxe Hostel (http://www.ulissedeluxe.com/index_english.htm) and would recommend it. It is really like a 4star hotel (Rick Steves also recommends this in his Italy book). The prices are very reasonable and the place is very clean. The rooms were huge (with marble floors) and had a TV/Fridge etc. They had a breakfast Buffet that you could pay extra for. And it's in a great location.
Check it out and have a great trip!
check out il nido
great views
great food
hard working staff
Another vote for Il Nido. Excellent accommodations and hospitality - and quite a bit cheaper than you're looking at.
And here's another vote for Il Nido. In fact, we just spent 6 days there. In all the places throughout Italy that we've stayed at, this one is my favorite..hands down! The view from your private balcony can't be beat. The service from Dino and his brother is outstanding. The breakfast included in your VERY reasonable rate is unmistakably better than any meal you would pay extra for...with scrambled eggs, bacon, coldcuts, cheese, cereal, yogart, fruit, texas toast, muffins, orange juice squeezed right from the oranges in front of you (can't get any fresher), and to top it off, a variety of the best freshly made pastries...all this every morning. Oh, forgot about the machine that makes capacino and other varities of coffee.
Also, need to mention that since you are in the hills looking over the city, sea, and Mt. Vesuvius, Il Nido has a shuttle at your beckon call to drive you into town and pick you up at the end of your day. What service! You can pay the higher rates to be on the water but believe me, for so much less, you can do so much better at Il Nido. Loved it!
P.S. I recommend their restaurant also for top-notch food and great prices (also with a view).
