Sorrento Hotel

What is your favorite hotel in Sorrento? We will stay there two nights. I have the Grand Hotel Ambasciatori booked currently but it is so expensive. Is it really worth it or is there a smaller charming B&B or small hotel that you love and would go back to stay there again? Views are not a must as we will have just completed a week cruise on a sailboat where the views will be limitless. I'd love to stay somewhere special. Tell me your recommendations! Thank you!

Il Nido was one of our favorite hotels ever. The cost was less than staying in town. The staff were wonderful, the view from breakfast every morning was beautiful, our room was clean and comfortable and the included breakfast was great. It is up the hill from the town but they have a free shuttle that goes back and forth all day and most of the night and it worked well for us. We didn't pay the extra for the room with a view of the bay, but friends did and said it was a great room. We don't stay in our room except to sleep so we didn't bother, and were satisfied with our choice. They had a washer and dryer at the hotel and that was wonderful since it was mid-trip and time to do our laundry. Have fun in Sorrento!

We stayed at the hotel michaelangelo. Very clean, reasonable, and 5 minute walk to the center of town with lots of restaurants and shops, as well as close to boats to capri, etc.

Hi, you could check out my favorite B&B in Sorrento , actually my absolute favorite b&b in Europe! ¨Villa Monica B&B¨ ... charming, pristine, great food, lovely rooms, amazing views and the BEST host you could ask for!
Have a great trip!

Palazzo Januzzi in Piazza Tasso is one of the places we like to stay when we take our holidays in Sorrento. Family run small bed and breakfast hotel with modern fixtures and fittings (including lovely bathrooms with walk-in showers/rain effect shower heads). One of our favourite rooms is No 26 which has a tiny kitchenette where you can make yourself hot drinks etc. The room also has a large terrace with outdoor furniture and a view of the hills behind Sorrento. Breakfast includes fresh homemade pastries and cakes.

Hi,

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Cesare Augusto in May 2010. It was older, but very clean and it's a very short walk to Piazza Tasso. Our room was on the side that faced the bay, which I believe is the quieter side. the othe side faces Via degli Aranci, which is a busy street.

I'd stay there again.

Can I put my 2 cents in for il Nido? I've stayed there every year for the past decade and can't say enough good things about it. I've had time to check out other places, just out of curiosity, and still go back to il Nido with no regrets. The room you select doesn't matter - sit on the rooftop or on the balcony and take in the view morning, noon and night. The restaurant has become (in this big eater's opinion) the best in Sorrento so make sure you have dinner there at or after sunset! Breakfast there on the balcony will serve to fuel your enthusiasm for whatever you have planned for the rest of the day. You ask for "special"? Well, il Nido and all the wonderful staff are what make Sorrento special for me!

Veronica...good to hear. We are staying at the B&B Villa Monica, and when I spoke with the owner/manager, I knew I had made the right decision. He sounds like a gem. Will be there the end of September for 3 nights....will update on how it was on this forum. We've also rented apartment in Florence and Rome, and if they turn out to be nice, I will also post about them. Thank you for your review.

We stayed at Albergo Settimo Cielo for 7 nights. It is bare-minimum hotel, but the view from the balcony was amazing! Monte Vesuvio is right in front of my eyes across the Bay. Marina Grande is right below us. My husband must have a great view when staying at a hotel, so it was perfect for us. We will definitely stay there again!

Another vote for Il Nido. It's family run and they do everything right. We loved the breakfasts and the dinners there!

I also liked Il Nido a lot -- helpful staff, great views, excellent restaurant including breakfast. BUT I would add these comments: (1) you might choose a room with a view for a little extra, and avoid the attractively lowest priced rooms; I stayed in one of these a year ago, and both the room and that wing of the hotel was pretty worn and ordinary; (2) there are times that your schedule might be constrained by the schedule of their shuttle into town, it will be tough to stop back at your room to relax, clean up, drop things off, get a sweater, etc., and you may find yourself worrying about whether the shuttle schedule will get you to your train on time, as I did.
